and direct contact with leading visual effects, post-production, and motion-picture technology companies.

Over the years, Gianluca has worked across an extensive range of international productions, collaborating with major VFX companies including

MPC, Framestore, DNEG, RISE FX, OUTPOST, etc.

His credits include The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Avengers: Infinity War, Wonder Woman, Dunkirk, Fantastic Beasts, Black Mirror, The Marvels,

Stranger Thiongs and many others.

One of the highlights of his career came with Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, for which he was part of the MPC/Weta visual effects team that

received the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, as well as the BAFTA and VES Awards.

His expertise, however, extends far beyond compositing. Gianluca has extensive experience in VFX supervision, on-set supervision, special

shooting techniques, motion control, stereography, virtual production, and VFX pipeline development. He works closely with directors,

cinematographers and production teams from pre-production through shooting and post-production, helping translate creative ideas into

practical and technically precise solutions.

He is also an educator, researcher and author, with a particular interest in making complex technologies accessible to artists and filmmakers.

His book Python Scripting for Smart and Curious Compositors reflects his passion for combining creativity with technical innovation, while his

workshops and collaborations with film schools, universities and VFX companies have allowed him to share his knowledge with a new generation

of artists.

Gianluca is an active member of the Visual Effects Society (VES) and he is currently the Chairman of the VES UK Board of Directors, contributing

to events, education and discussions around techniques of visual effects and filmmaking.

It is this combination of hands-on filmmaking experience, technical expertise, curiosity and passion for visual storytelling that led to the

creation of Cinematically.net — a platform where Gianluca brings together conversations, research and insights into the tools and people

shaping the cinematic image.
